Athens International Airport: довідник мандрівника
At Athens, check the gate letter before planning your route. The airport places A1–A27 and B1–B31 in the Main Terminal, while C15–C40 are in the Satellite Terminal. Allow for the route to your actual gate rather than using a café or lounge as the final reference point.
Arriving at Athens International Airport
Goldair’s arrival assistance tiers can include a nameboard greeting, help along the arrival route, baggage or porter arrangements and a terminal transfer. The exact welcome depends on the selected tier and the stand used by the aircraft. Request written details of the greeting point and immigration access, especially if the service is being arranged for someone who does not speak Greek or English.
Leaving from Athens International Airport
Departure assistance can cover check-in support, the route through the relevant controls and, for the appropriate tier, lounge access and transport arrangements. A simpler security Fast Track is also sold through AEGEAN for eligible AEGEAN or Olympic-operated flights. That ticket covers security priority; it does not add an escort or immigration priority. Check your existing ticket benefits before buying the same access again.
Coffee, food and time in the terminal
Gregory’s in the public departures area publishes 24-hour opening. Its Schengen retail-concourse outlet lists 04:00–22:00, and the B18 outlet 05:00–23:00. The non-Schengen Platea outlet lists 05:00–00:00. For a hot meal, Eat Greek in the Schengen departures Platea publishes 24-hour opening. The location matters because the same brand’s hours differ between areas.
Shopping before your flight
Athens has duty-free and last-minute shopping choices, but the usable outlets depend on the departure zone. Check the airport’s current store listing and flight eligibility before planning a purchase. Leave enough time to reach a Satellite Terminal gate after shopping. Sealed duty-free liquids remain subject to the rules at onward checkpoints.
Documents and security
For a Schengen arrival, the border-control route can differ from an arrival from outside Schengen. Have the passport, visa or residence document required for your own itinerary ready. If you need mobility assistance, arrange it with the airline; it is not created automatically by buying a Fast Track ticket.
Entry requirements: Greece
Greece is in Schengen. A journey from Cyprus to Athens crosses an external Schengen border, so a traveller who can enter Cyprus may still need a different document for Greece. For a later flight from Athens to another Schengen country, carry the same travel documents even where routine border control is not required.
